Striving for Stress Free

Been there, and still there with you.

Maps & Naps is a blog dedicated to sharing information curated for single parents who want to explore the world with their children. Created out of a personal struggle to find specific travel information for single-parent families, this blog aims to fill that gap.

Whether you’re tackling airport security with a toddler or tween in tow, seeking a peaceful oasis in a bustling city, or figuring out how to include yourself in those precious vacation photos, Maps & Naps is here to inspire you – with empathy, understanding, and experience.

Meet the Author:
Mara C.

Hello! I’m Mara, the voice behind Maps & Naps. I’ve been traveling as a single parent for several years with my only child. Our journey as a travel duo began nearly a decade ago, sparked by my own passion for exploration and a desire to show her the vastness and diversity of our world.

My goal with Maps & Naps is to provide you with the answers and resources I wish I had when I started this journey. I hope that by sharing our experiences and the lessons we’ve learned along the way, I can help make your travel a little less daunting.

Additionally, I hope information found here fills that gap I felt as I started on this journey. That feeling that the information I’d find were piecemeal, all over the place. I had to go to one place to get a bit of info on how to do something as a solo traveler, and then go to another place to get info on how to travel with kids. All the while, trying not to feel guilty when I see two-parent families plastered all over those articles. I’m proud to be able to handle everything on my plate and still be able to go on vacations with my child, I feel extremely lucky. At the same time, people who aren’t single parents don’t know the struggles we go through. A simple thing like going to the bathroom in the airplane becomes a strategic plan you need to seek out ahead of time so that your toddler isn’t left by themselves in a sea of strangers screaming.

For transparency, I want you to know that I’m:

  • Not posting pictures of myself nor my child for privacy.
  • Information listed on this site are my own opinions and should not be seen as professional advice.
  • Experiences that I say I’ve had are real.
  • For now, I’m not open for comments or emails as this is not my full-time job.
  • Dedicated to making this blog work.
